Liz & Jack are loving, inspiring and cute as hell and their intimate London wedding was so heart-warming.
The way these guys look at each other is everything and it melts me. I mean come on, their smiles are the best.
Having met with them at Durdle Door for their engagement shoot I wasn’t expecting to see them until the end of September for their wedding in Dorset. However a set of circumstances meant that they needed to get married at pretty short notice on a Thursday in July in London at Wandsworth Town Hall. I was free, I booked my train ticket and I witnessed an amazing day with beautiful people who had come together, from all over the world.
I’ll let them tell you everything else in their own words.
“For family reasons we brought our wedding forward from our original date in September 2018 to the summer. It really simplified what getting married meant to us and we ended up planning our wedding in just over 10 days. Ultimately all we wanted was everyone we loved in one place and the worries you think you’ll have about colour schemes, napkins or favours fade into insignificance.”
“The dress was Whistles and shoes were ASOS. The only jewellery I wore apart from my new wedding ring was some earrings that were a gift from my parents for my birthday. My dress was one of the first I tried on and whilst I tried on many others, I kept coming back to that one. In the end I realised I was afraid it might go out of stock in my size and that was a sign so went back to buy it!”
“Jack’s always had a thing for knitted ties so he went to a family favourite, Grey Flannel on Marylebone High Street for his and the best men’s ties.”
“We were organising things so last minute that I walked into the florist and had only thought as far ahead as asking ‘are you free on the 12th July’ and had no idea what we actually wanted. The staff were wonderful and helped pull together some natural bouquets using in season flowers with yellow roses and greenery that were just perfect.”
“For our readings and music we had Foxtrot from a play by W.H. Auden which was read by Jack’s best man Josh. We also had Saturday Night Waltz by Aaron Copland, Sailing By by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. We signed the register to One Day Like This by Elbow – if anyone wasn’t already crying by this point, that definitely got everyone welling up”
“We had a very small ceremony at the town hall but I won’t forget stepping out onto the steps in the sunshine to see all our family and friends there – many of whom had travelled a long way – to throw confetti and spend the afternoon celebrating in the pub with us.”
“Our advice to other couples is don’t get bogged down in all the wedding blogs telling you what you should be doing on your big day. Include the bits you want and make your own traditions that work for you.”
Thank you so much to Liz & Jack for asking me to photograph their wedding at Wandsworth Town Hall.
